Mara Fabbro
Mara Fabbro explores the relationship between man and his habitat by recreating fragments of our planet as if they were observed from above. She uses software that generates virtual images of the Earth , drawing inspiration from real places – often visited personally – or imaginary and dreamlike. Other times, she guides us into the depths of the sea, among the crystalline waters of coral reefs, on a visual journey to discover the natural treasures of the planet, today increasingly threatened by a precarious balance.
A self-taught artist, she develops her practice through in-depth material experimentation. After years of research, she has developed a sandy mixture that she spreads and shapes manually or with the aid of spatulas and various tools, and then intervenes with acrylic pigments. The resulting surfaces are irregular, tactile, plastic: and the acrylic color pigments emphasize every ripple of the material. This choice arises from the need to create “living” works, capable of activating a sensorial relationship with the observer, sharing with him the wonder and amazement of being able to “feel” a work also through touch, inviting him to immerse himself in a three-dimensional world, strongly anchored to a primordial balance.
Born in Castello d'Aviano, in Friuli Venezia Giulia, where she currently lives and works, Mara Fabbro regularly exhibits in solo and group shows, both in Italy and abroad, with the support of galleries and public and private institutions. The traveling project "È per sempre" was recently presented in Venice, at Palazzo Contarini del Bovolo, in Rimini at Augeo Art Space, and at the Museo Nazionale di Melfi.
She has also exhibited her works at the Museo Nazionale di Mantova, at the Museo del Paesaggio in Torre di Mosto (VE), and at the DIFC in Dubai with the MIA Art Foundation. She collaborates with the Galleria M45 in Milan and with GR Gallery in New York.
