Anatomy of a Coral

In this series, Mara Fabro abandons geometry to embrace a fluid and organic aesthetic, inspired by the aquatic world. The vibrant and branched shapes evoke the profile of coral, the line of the shoreline drawn by the waves, the soft and vital movements of the natural elements that emerge from the water.

The surfaces, shaped exclusively by hand, give life to a delicate and sensitive material, crossed by a subtle and harmonious texture. The workmanship does not follow pre-established patterns, but relies on the intuition of the gesture and the inner rhythm , like a breath that expands in the form.

Coral, in its structure, recalls the human vascular system: a vital, interconnected and fragile network. But its meaning goes beyond that. It is a symbol of transformation, of a threshold between visible and invisible , between water and earth, between life and death . It is a collective and solitary being, solid and liquid, that grows slowly and silently, building architectures of memory and time. In this, it becomes for the artist a metaphor for our condition: vulnerable, intertwined, listening to the world.
