Ancient Echoes
Everything begins with an encounter: the sarcophagus of Rapolla at the Museum of Melfi. A marble statue that stopped time — bringing to the surface classical forms, ancient philosophies, a sense of equilibrium the contemporary world seems to have lost. This series translates that encounter into matter. The mark becomes essential, almost sculptural. The surface is compact, dense — light slides across it, returning deep shadows and soft transitions, a silent and stable presence. In the background, something more subtle emerges: a sensibility formed through immersion in Italian visual culture, where the relationship with art, proportion and matter is part of everyday life. A heritage that is not studied — it is inherited. The works in this series do not quote the past. They inhabit it.
The Work in Architecture
Ancient Echoes originates from a direct dialogue with classical art, particularly inspired by the Rapolla sarcophagus at the Museum of Melfi. The series translates ancient references into contemporary material surfaces, where the mark becomes more essential and the matter more compact, almost sculptural. Light moves across the reliefs, creating controlled shadows and soft transitions, evoking a quiet and stable presence. Underlying the work is a cultural layer shaped by an Italian visual heritage, where sensitivity to art, material and proportion is embedded in everyday experience. The series is designed to: – introduce depth and solidity into minimal spaces – interact with stone, marble and mineral surfaces – reinforce a timeless and restrained architectural language Suitable for high-end residential interiors and international projects requiring a balance between contemporary expression and cultural grounding.
